Lee Jung-Jae was born on December 15, 1972, in Seoul, South Korea. He studied at Dongguk University and started his career as a model before becoming an actor. He gained international fame with his performance in Squid Game (2021).

He is best known for his role as Seong Gi-hun in Squid Game (2021), for which he received an Emmy Award. Some of his other well-known works include The Housemaid (2010), New World (2013), and Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds (2017).
