Personal Life

Born on 1978-09-23 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Mackie is the son of Martha and Willie Mackie Sr., a carpenter who owned a roofing business. He attended the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts in 1997, and later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Juilliard School’s Drama Division in 2001. In 2014, he married his childhood sweetheart, Sheletta Chapital; the couple, who have four children, divorced in 2018.

Anthony Mackie is best known for his role as Sam Wilson/Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014). He is also a licensed contractor and once owned a bar called NoBar in Brooklyn, New York. Additionally, he is dyslexic.

Awards

Throughout his career, Anthony Mackie has received critical acclaim, including an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Actor for Brother to Brother (2004) and a Best Supporting Actor nomination for The Hurt Locker (2009).
