Born on May 3, 1970, in Brooklyn, New York, Bobby Cannavale is of Italian descent. He studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute before breaking into acting. Cannavale’s first notable role came in the mid-1990s with guest spots on television shows. He made his film debut in The Bone Collector (1999), marking the start of his successful career in both television and film. His breakthrough role was in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire (2010–2014), where he portrayed Gyp Rosetti, a character that won him widespread recognition.
