Born on 1984-09-03 in Roseau, Minnesota, Garrett John Hedlund is of Swedish, Norwegian, and German descent. Raised on a remote cattle farm near Wannaska, Minnesota, he moved to Arizona in the ninth grade to live with his mother. During high school, he worked as a waiter, saving his tips to pay for acting lessons with coach Jean Fowler. Six months after graduating from Horizon High School, he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue acting.
