Born on 1985-01-06 in London, England, Hugh William Skinner spent part of his childhood in Perth, Australia, before returning to the UK. He attended Eastbourne College from 1998 to 2003 and later graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in 2006. Skinner is openly gay and has expressed that his sexuality is a natural aspect of his life.

Skinner is best known for his roles in British sitcoms such as W1A (2014–2017), where he played the endearing intern Will Humphries, and The Windsors (2016–present), portraying a comedic version of Prince William.
