Born on 1976-08-02 in Godalming, Surrey, England, Samuel Henry John Worthington moved to Perth, Western Australia, during his infancy. Raised in Warnbro, a suburb of Rockingham, he attended John Curtin College of the Arts in Fremantle but did not graduate. At 19, after working various construction jobs, he auditioned for and was accepted into the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney. In 2013, Worthington began a relationship with Australian model Lara Bingle; the couple married in 2014 and have three sons together. Worthington has been open about his struggles with alcohol, achieving sobriety in 2014.
